..Oh, and as an addendum, Tivo, Linksys, Netgear and iPhone all include 'stripped down' userspace installations (iPhone using OSX of course, the rest are Linux). You'll note that all of those platforms got better when they were opened up to allow the user to do what they wanted. (Better from the user perspective at least, although Linksys productized it.)
