I answered similar question some time back. I read the application fundamentals on android developers but could not complete the reading without a aim. Rather I find reading (decoding) code and reading more about related documentation is a good way to learn. I am finding the sample code that get installed with the SDK useful for it. You will find that when you try to setup a project using existing code.
