I got a similar issue from one of the users, and he himself found a solution for this. Seems that if you are using your SDCard with one phone, and setup that SDCard to be used with another phone, you might have this problem. This is just one example though. Hope this helps
Okay I fixed it myself! Looking at the log I noticed the error about the smdtmpl container and Googled for that and found this thread: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?can=2&q=9593&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20Stars&id=9593 So I mounted my phone on my computer and found this file on the SD: ./.android_secure/smdl2tmp1. asec and renamed android_secure directory to something else. After that I was able to reinstall. Looking in the original .android_secure directory I saw lots of other files which I think I'll need so reverse what I just did and just renamed the smdl2tmp1.asec file, uninstalled your app and reinstalled - it works just fine. So I'm guessing the smdl2tmp1.asec file had something wrong with it in terms of permissions, perhaps because I've used the SD card with an older Android OS phone (1.6) or a rooted one (cyanogenmod on my old G1). Who knows but at least it is fixed! BTW, thanks for your app, I look forward to doing some more mobile blogging now, great work!
