I tried that - and nothing. I have a pretty heavy app here - with a LOT of native code, and the screen in question is mostly a bitmap rendered on the native side....
So - I made dopey test app (in 5 minutes) and you are right - the code works fine in the normal case (in whatever function you call it in). Just not in my more complex application!
