My standard e-mail to people who write me about this is to tell them
to go:
Settings >> Applications >> Download Manager
Settings >> Applications >> Market

And clear cache and clear data (if available - it differs a bit
depending on OS version).

That solutions seems to work for pretty much everyone - the only time
it didn't was when my upload to the Android market site somehow got
interrupted, so that the apk file available was corrupt (and I fixed
that by uploading a new version).
