I've used katakana and hiragana extensively in textviews, no problem. This is a pretty suspicious error report-- is it JUST that string? Is it only when the textview is in a listview? What's the full stack trace? Are you sure your own function is not in the recursion, like if you change the text on an "on text changed" listener, etc.?

The text view is in a ListView.
