That is correct. The recognition quality of free open source OCR engines like Tesseract and GOCR is unfortunately still a far cry from what ABBYY delivers. Most OCR engines were developed for flatbed scanners with controlled light conditions, a flat surface, no lens distortion and little skew, and recognition robustness suffers dramatically when using them with a mobile hand-held device such as an Android smartphone.
