Hi

I am an developer with more than a decade of experience behind me in
languages like C/C++, as well as Java and C#. I am trying my hand at
Android now, and am a complete newbie in this area. To this end I am
trying to set up the Android development environment on Eclipse on my
Windows 7 system. This is an Android SDK installation question.

I already had Eclipse Helios on my system since I am a Java developer;
to this I further installed the Android SDK as well as the ADT plugin
by downloading it. So far so good.

The problem is that my Internet connection is very, very unreliable,
and it keeps breaking every once in a while. Unfortunately, installing
the AVDs and the 3rd party addons within the Eclipse IDE has become a
real pain for me, since it's taking it's own sweet time to get
downloaded. I just wanted to know, wouldn't there be a simple archive
that could be downloaded and installed offline? The rate at which it
is downloading, I guess it may complete in the next 12 hours or so,
that is *if* I am lucky and the connection does not break. Had there
been an archive, I could have used my download manager to download it
in very little time (comparatively).

I am extremely exasperated since this has taken a whole day of effort
from me, and it's nowhere near completion. I think these guys at
Google have assumed that everyone in the world has a blazing fast
connection. In India, we still have very slow and unreliable
connections, unfortunately.

I have been trying for the better part of the day to install Android
on Eclipse and I really would appreciate any help. Thanks in
anticipation.

With best regards.
Najeeb
