That explains why my Eclair phone receives the app installation "tickle" from the Market webapp.
Dianne, please correct me if I'm wrong: 1) The foundation for C2DM was always present in Android, Google apps used the mechanism since the beginning, and was made available to developers since Froyo and then officially received the C2DM name 2) If I want to develop an Android app that receives notifications from a web app using the mechanism, I have to restrict my user base to Froyo or higher.
