It could be that the way your service works, the only time you'd launch your activity from your service is when the user is already in your app. In that limited scenario, I still wouldn't recommend that UI style, but I wouldn't be quite as strident about it. I should have thought of that possibility in my original post, and for missing that, I apologize.
