i partly disagree, there is a use case for text-to-speech. i made my WinMo read caller names then connected to a headset some years ago, because whats the point in using a headset if you have to check the phone to see who's calling ? and such situations mostly occur then i'm not able to get out my phone in the first place, like driving or skating. But clearly, it has to be limited to headset use, otherwise everyone around knows who you're talking to. (and imho ringtones are impolite in the first place. there's vibrate alarm after all.)
if thats usable for sms, i don't know. i had twitter connected to speach for, like, 10 minutes, then it made me crazy and i switched it off again. to disturbing.
