I don't see why this would necessarily be a bad thing: it's just part of the security policy of the app. Of course, there's not really a "let an app send email as me" permission, but you could imagine making this as an app's configuration.
(Of course, there is a permission that allows you access to accounts, but it doesn't convey the same idea..)
