Are you saying it's surprising that high-end developers targeted what they considered to be the most likely audience when they invested all that time and money in their development?
It doesn't get more obvious than that. The two OSs are completely different. At least different enough that it makes perfect sense to target where you expect you will get the most traffic. Then develop for the other OS later, as you find the time and resources. Hell, I remember when Photoshop was only available on Macs.
