Hey Steve, Agree on the app type and naturally a diversified strategy is
needed most of the time I am sure. Ads (video, pop up, click thru,
streaming, native), pay for version of the app, micro purchases, app
install choices are all possibilities. In your case I can see that it
would be very difficult monetize with an app in the background, unless you
are a pay for app or did embedded ads for the UI splash screen (maybe
both?).

Our strategy is to pay apps out first (we do embedded micro mobile video
ads), even before we pay overhead or profits as it seems apps are not
getting their fair share. Basically they get a percentage of the gross
income in relation to the amount of views, period. Views aren't skippable
as they are as short as the skip times for normal vid ads. This means full
views every time. If apps made more they would need less ads to monetize is
our though. They would also have more loyalty with their ad tech partner,
and upset customers less with obnoxious pop ups.

We are a brand new startup so reaching out to the community to see if that
makes sense and would be something they would endorse and get behind. Truly
trying to make an app first ad tech scheme. hmm, new tag line?
