You can't get good timing from SoundPool. If you're talking about a music application where a few msecs of jitter affects the musical feel, you're going to need to mix your own streams to get the timing accuracy.
We are planning on adding an API in a future release for music applications, probably something along the lines of a lightweight ASIO for mobile devices.
