OK, here are the two most likely discussion lists for somebody who is building Android from source: Android platform (http://groups.google.com/group/android-platform) - You want to contribute code into Android. You want to improve the system libraries, the Android services, or the built-in applications. You've downloaded the source code, compiled it, read through it, and you're at the point where you're going to be making changes of your own to contribute into the Android source code. Coordinate your efforts with those of other contributors here, discuss architecture, design and implementation here. Consider also android-framework and android-kernel for discussion that specifically belong there. If you're not going to be actively contributing changes, this is not your list, you should be using android-discuss instead. Android framework (http://groups.google.com/group/android-framework) - You want to improve the Android APIs. Those are the APIs that developers use in the SDK. You want to contribute code into Android to achieve that goal. You've downloaded the source code, compiled it, read through it, and you're at the point where you're going to be making changes of your own to contribute into the Android source code. Discuss here the various options to change existing APIs or to expose new APIs, explore the issues of forward of backward compatibility, learn how to keep the APIs consistent, scalable, and maintainable. If you're not going to be actively contributing changes, this is not your list.
