Same thing happened to me this week. A quick search indicates that the ::1 address for localhost is in some way related to IPv6. I don't know why this happens, but then I didn't dig any deeper (I figure the less I know about Vista the happier I'll be). I made the same edit to the hosts file and all is fine again.
