Just a quick follow-up: Using the built-in search facility, I am able to "view" names, however no information is displayed. I believe the problem here is the same as the Names list. Looking at res/layout-finger/contact_card_layout.xml in Eclipse is a NullPointerException: null. Again, LogCat shows no error output.
Interestingly, when I search for a name, the search suggestions box displays contact information e.g. phone number, email address but selecting the name doesn't show this information. In addition, the "Edit" button is greyed out and not selectable. I have done some testing and the queries for Names are not being directed to Android's Contacts provider.
