I tried 1,3 (a few times) before posting. I had hoped it would be something like this. I will try cleaning - thanks for reminding me about that one. As to point 7, rather than reinstalling Eclipse, I updated its SDK (after posting original message). Thought that perhaps the update would "shake loose" whatever was holding me up. Last night I tried a variation of 4 and 5 and created a new project - empty. Then I copied all the files from the old one back to it (not the .project/.classpath/.etc) and there was no error on the new project. I am fairly confident that the app itself isn't the root cause, but I've still got to compare some of .project, .etc... files and see of something got messed up in those. If I can't solve it, I will delete the old project and rename this back to the original version so I can update it in the market. I must admit that I'm a little uncomfortable with errors that just show up and you can't clear. Kinda gets under your skin - very frustrating.
