Hi Sly, Check out Xtify - we offer an SDK and webservice that allows you to maintain a persistent connection between the server and the device. You can pass notifications (as well as custom intents and data) to the device using our channel. In addition, the SDK is designed to extract location from the device on a regular interval and can be used as a trigger or accessed via API.
