Hi,

I have tried starting the emulator, through Eclipse and the terminal,
and it is running extremely slowly. It takes about ten minutes to
load, and once it displays the status bar across the top, error
message "(software) is not responding" is shown.

I am using Ubuntu 10.04, with the Linux SDK on the Android website.

I tried running the emulator with -no-audio and -no-skin, no
improvement. The output of -show-kernel contains a few error
messages:

Unknown boot option `android.checkjni=1': ignoring
Unknown boot option `android.qemud=ttyS1': ignoring
Unknown boot option `android.ndns=4': ignoring

init: cannot find '/system/bin/playmp3', disabling 'bootsound'
init: cannot find '/system/bin/dbus-daemon', disabling 'dbus'
init: cannot find '/system/etc/install-recovery.sh', disabling
'flash_recovery'

init: sys_prop: permission denied uid:1000 name:user.language
init: sys_prop: permission denied uid:1000 name:user.region

The whole output is at http://pastebin.com/3z8nnMAA .

Looking at Ubuntu's system monitor, the emulator takes about 60MB of
RAM and most of the processor.
