Perhaps nobody in the community has stepped up to write an implementation. Perhaps somebody in the community has written one, but it's a patch somewhere inside Gerrit and hasn't been approved yet. Perhaps somebody in the community has written one, but it's a patch somewhere inside Gerrit which, while approved, has not been reflected on any public status page. If you believe no such patch exists today, and if there's no indication from the core Android team that this already implemented, and if you're not in position to create such a patch yourself, here are some things you can do to help address your issue: 1. Notify the authors of the buggy applications (the apps you feel you need to terminate with extreme prejudice) of the problems you are experiencing, so perhaps they can correct the issues and release updates that are better-behaved. 2. If you obtained the buggy applications from the Android Market, provide feedback there based on the results from #1; if you got them elsewhere, use appropriate feedback mechanisms per the source of the app. 3. Consider starting a fundable.org or pledgie.com campaign, or otherwise raise money to hire somebody to make, submit, and shepherd a patch through the review process. Or, find some other (preferably legal) means to recruit somebody to make, submit, and shepherd such a patch. Gregory Brown's Ruby Mendicant program from 2008 might be a model to follow, if you can find a suitable firmware engineer: http://rubymendicant.wikidot.com/ BTW, if there are any Android-firmware-experienced freelance engineers out there who are interested in such a "mendicant" program like Mr. Brown ran, please contact me off-list. -- Mark Murphy (a Commons Guy) http://commonsware.com Android Training on the Ranch! -- Mar 16-20, 2009 http://www.bignerdranch.com/schedule.shtml --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
