I agree, I didn't mean the SDK is a kind of user manual :) But this topic only comes up for people who want to dive behind the covers and start micro-managing their phones resources. In which case, the SDK explains exactly how it works.

Slow startup is a bug in the launcher. My response on the other thread on this topic - buttons that get added as workarounds for bugs leads to madness. See: the Linux desktop, the Word 2000 preferences window, websites where pressing the back button triggers the repost message etc. If the launcher started in 250msec you wouldn't have this problem.
