I've been wanting to use bookmarklets, for instance to add a page to my Google Bookmarks. I tried to create a bookmarklet by first creating a new bookmark (e.g. for Google homepage), then when it asks you to confirm the name and URL of the bookmark I pasted in the "javascript:..."code into the URL box. Didn't work though! The browser always inserts a "http://" in front of the URL whatever you do.
Maybe if you could put the javascript code as a link within a web page and bookmark it directly from there?
