OK I'll bite.

> Background:
Professionally I am involved in building public service land mobile
radio and fleet tracking systems. Europe and NA. Used to code for a
living.
Nokia user for many years. Everything unlocked. Favorite phone of the
past: Nokia 6310i. Built for the road worriers. For what it does:
Everything is right about it, beyond any doubt.
I am entering sensitive areas at times and decent no camera phones are
a blessing.
So (obviously) I use an E60. Taking advantage of the SIP client/WiFi
to integrate with an Asterisk PBX - that's super practical. Very nice
device and still pretty sturdy.
I also toy around with an N810 Internet Tablet. That, and the ARM
cross-compilation environment I built gets my imagination about land-
mobile convergence going. Very sweet device. Use cases are checking
emails on the road when I leave the notebook behind, and as media
player. Can take advantage of tethering (not to the G1 of course) when
WiFi is not available. I am not so big into GTK+/C++ or Qt however.

> G1 likes:
- Touchscreen; CHECK
- Apps; CHECK
- Virtual Desktop; Having 3 "desktops" makes life easier. CHECK
- Best of all: Android SDK. "Game changer", as they say. Years ago I
dabbled in J2ME and WAP and found that way too limiting. Symbian up
front cost and learning curve: uh-oh
- Can be unlocked if so desired
- Nicely engineered slide-out mechanism

>
> G1 dislikes:
- Lack of tethering; CLEARLY
- Super flimsy plastic back cover. Is this the best HTC can do? I am
not too bad with tossing my phones around, but still, a SHOW STOPPER
- More of an Android/Google problem: Sync contacts through Google. I
keep my POC information close to my chest. Remains on controlled
devices. SHOW STOPPER
- abysmal keyboard (I have the bronze so have we heard about that
before). Not so bad for me, I don't text much anyhow

Conclusion... I use the G1 pretty much as dev device only. Android SDK
too powerful to ignore.
