I have 3 paid games up on the market. According to androidstats.com they rank as #4, #11, and #49 in popularity of all paid games.
My top selling game has a demo with only 26,000 downloads, but the other 2 games demos are both in the top 10 Arcade category and each of them has over 100,000 downloads. I write all the code myself and recently started getting some help with the graphics side of things. I have made a little bit of money, enough pay a few bills, but the way sales are looking now programming for android will just be a nice hobby to do on the side and it is definitely not going to be replacing my full time C++ job anytime soon. The download numbers for the paid apps sometimes seem a little disappointing, but then I remind myself that it is very early on in the paid apps market and the best thing that I can do is improve existing games and keep releasing new games so that hopefully my rankings stay relatively high. Hopefully as new Android phones come out the new users will be more likely to pay for apps. It seems to me that some G1 users feel entitled to all free apps because that is all they had for quite a few months. Also as the market opens in different countries sales should pick up seeing as I have had a few dozen emails from people in the UK asking how to get my paid apps. I have my fair share of gripes about the Market and Google Checkout (the extremely limited csv export is a joke) but overall I am happy that I have a way to monetize on a hobby. ---snctln www.snctln.com On Mar 9, 9:25 am, Sundog <[email protected]> wrote: > I don't know.
