I have high confidence that this process could be automated into an
auto-cracking tool. I reckon I could do it in a week, and someone with
reverse engineering experience could probably do it in a day. I
wouldn't deem that a significant amount of effort. What I would deem
significant is the amount of effort required to implement and deploy
such a scheme, and the support effort required to deal with the edge
cases (such as people moving to different phones or phone numbers).
