Current market share is very difficult to read and even harder to
extrapolate future conditions from. On top of that, the chart you
showed is terrible.... Android is Linux, so why is it categorized
under PALM? Palm is dead anyways, so virtually the entire pie chunk
for palm/android must belong to android.

This might give a better idea about how things are shaping up:

The way I read this is as follows;
1) Android is picking up in the same pattern as apple phone did.
2) During apple's startup and Android's startup alike, this is how
things go with ONE DEVICE.
3) Apple STILL has only one device (their first device is discontinued
in order to reinforce sales of the second).
4) Apple released on a stronger provider and yet Android *STILL*
matched its startup pattern.
5) A second Android device will become available in a matter of WEEKS,
and during the remainder of this year, SEVERAL new devices.

In my opinion, as more devices running Android flood the market, Apple
will start to fall behind because of their stubbornness to remain the
sole hardware provider (which is the reason why MS overtook them back
in the 80's).

I wouldn't worry about MS. They started with crap, and every new
version keeps getting even worse. They'll probably sell a few real
fast and then drop off into nothingness. On top of that, you'll have
to wait until next year, by which time, they'll be in 5th place
anyways.
