Thanks for the new widget design guidelines:
http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/widget_design.html

Being an "open source" platform, I wonder why the graphics creation
depends on the commercial application "Photoshop".

I personally don't have access to Photoshop, and only use Gimp and
Inkscape for graphics creation, so I wonder if similar design
guideline settings could be provided for those open source graphics
applications.

I know the Android development team may have other priorities right
now, so it would also be nice if some independent designer would share
information how to achieve the exactly same effect in other open
source graphics applications.

In the long run, it may be nice to provide widget frames also in other
formats, like Gimp XCF format or Inkscape SVG format, instead of only
the proprietary Photoshop PSD format under which the frames on that
link above are currently stored.

After all, we code for Android in Eclipse, and not in say Visual
Studio, so why not provide support for open applications also for
graphics development?
