Hello everyone! Its my first post to the android groups. Please stay calm if the topic is already discussed or is not of much importance to you.
For the display of fonts on the screens, We have FreeType beneath the surface which does very well specially when it comes to anti-aliased crispy fonts. But there's more to it in just once sentence: After TTF, we need OTF as well. For OTF, we can incorporate HurfBuzz or a custom written implementation as well. That wont be much of an issue in terms of foot print in relation to the advantages that we will get. Why is it important you might ask so people in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Iran wont be able to have applications specifically targeted to them. Such an implementation at early phases of the Android platform would be beneficial to all the stakeholders including device manufacturers and the application developers alike. It is also important to get this feature as early as possible because Samsung's Bada is also on the horizon. I'd love rather I'm passionate to start hacking right away on this but unfortunately my day job is not leaving enough time for me to explore the possibilities. Your thoughts, comments and suggestions are welcome. Best regards, Mohsin Hijazee -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
