Although they've made great strides in the last months, there's no doubt that GAE couldn't hold a candle to AWS. Not even close. For the elimination of any doubt, just go find out how many jobs are posted for projects that build on GAE. So I suppose it's time for some deeper psychoanalysis (;->). The rumor mill out there actually claims that Amazon has some case of the iPhonitis and the Amazon app store is more a manifestation of their inferiority complex over Apple than anything that would have to do with Google. Android is just a platform that's expedient to leverage. Just like the next <carrier/manufacturer> sees it, Android comes with a bunch of gullible devs that can be leveraged into a corporate agenda. If that's to big a shoe, at least it makes for some nice advertisement of all the free apps. Or in the case of Amazon, what ever price point they determine. As many out there, I have a problem with that, but more so looking at the writing guilds and creative artists who are canned into ebooks and mp3s. Should the store-name- your-own-price approach pan out with these basement dwellers of mobile hackers, they'll be next. Now the sky isn't falling, there's a lot of money to go around, but looking at the record industry, it is just that other people are scoring that money now than used to in the olden days. It'll be interesting. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group. To post to this group, send email to android-discuss@googlegroups.com.
