The Walmart deal for the Galaxy II spurred me to replace my aging Eris with Android 2.1 on it with something better and a cheaper phone plan. But the local Walmart knew nothing about it. So I got a Galaxy Nexus on Play and then signed up for the $30 a month no contract web plan from T-Mobile. This saves me $40 a month over my Verizon plan and I don't use the phone part that much so 100 minutes is plenty. This the same plan that they will be promoting for iPhone users who want to switch carriers using a different SIM card.

The Eris allowed for both wifi and data to be on at the same time which sometimes I think caused problems with downloads when both might have been trying to get packets. With the Nexus I was flummoxed for a while as the data wouldn't work on the plan but then found an obscure article on T-Mobile that said I had to turn off wifi for data to work or it will just run off the wifi.

Great phone and the Eris will be used for an additional hardware test unit maybe even rooting if to see if I can update the OS.

Speaking of cameras I'm noting that the HD video is AVC but with weird or low frame rates around 17 to 20 fps or at least that is what VLC reports.

Ok. I actually just bought this at Walmart for 249. We'll see how it goes.

Can someone recommend an inexpensive ICS or higher tablet?
