We have two groups/lists today, android-framework and android-platform, that are virtually identical. Whatever difference exists in their descriptions exists because I stretched that difference a while back, but that difference is tenuous, and a quick glance at the discussions in both groups doesn't seem to spot any significant difference between the topics discussed on either side. I propose that we merge those two groups into a single one (android-platform, as it's the one that currently has the most subscribers) that would be the central point for contributors to the user-space side of the Android Open-Source Project. Once we get there, it'll be easier to police the group so that it can specifically serve the needs of contributors, hopefully filtering out the noise of people asking for porting support (there's android-porting for that), app development support (there's android-developers for that) or other random android questions (there's android-discuss for that). Based on the volume of what's left once that's done, there may be opportunities to split away specialized sub-lists, the prime candidates being related to building the source tree, and to everything media- and graphics-related. We're not there yet though, and this question is about merging two seemingly identical groups. Please reply to this message if you think that the two groups should be kept separate, explaining your reasons. Thanks, JBQ -- Jean-Baptiste M.
