Just a thought but have you guys who are reporting problems with GSM been using a freshly formatted SD card each time you reflash the Freerunner with a new file system?
I haven't tried Michael's latest images yet, but I did have issues earlier when I hadn't prepared my card as defined on the Wiki [1] In addition I believe some of the phone settings persist on the card between flashings. Only way to really see if there is a problem is to start clean every time.
