Hi, You can replace the 'kernel' file in <src>/vendor/htc/sapphire-open/ with your kernel and rebuild source. The kernel will be packaged inside boot.img together with the ramdisk.
You can also unpack boot.img itself and replace the kernel then repack boot.img. Then flash boot.img to your devphone. Hope this can help.
