I'm going to jump in on this one because the title best suits the situation.
I have used an initramfs but still cannot get a kernel to boot. Please allow me to elaborate on what I have done. Could you make any suggestions based on the following? A. I have built the kernel with the defconfig provided with the source code and the stock initramfs extracted from the running kernel. it fails to boot. B. I have even built with the config from /proc/config.gz from the running kernel and the stock initramfs extracted from the running kernel. It fails to boot. C. I have built with both the defconfig and the config in config.gz, updated the modules and repacked the initramfs. It fails to boot. D. I have tried packing the initramfs and zImage with mkbootimg into a boot.img. Fails to boot. E. I have tried repacking the boot.img on the fly with anykernel. Fails to boot. Below is the output from /proc/last_kmsg from a kernel built from the provided defconfig and the stock initramfs. I get a similar last_kmsg when using the config from config.gz however the "falied to load tranform" messages have been fixed. As you can see the real problems start at the init messages. I have checked my init.rc files, I have checked that ext4 is built, and really I shoudln't have to as I am using the config from config.gz and the initramfs from the kernel. But It just won't boot. So I know it is not the initramfs or how I am repacking it. Without being able to reproduce a stock kernel, there's no point even trying to go any further. Please I hope someone has a solution or suggestions so that I can further my development.
