I recently saw a scenario where update for my maps application (on Google Nexus S - 4.1.2 JellyBean) triggered /system rw remount, copied some files there and remounted /system back to ro !! AFAIK, ideally all the app updates only go to /data/ but the above behaviour defies this understanding. And this happened to me only once for maps update and also I was not able to recreate this for any other apps.
Is anyone aware of this functionality, and the associated reason which could have triggered this!
