to make it clear, the fork was made because we wanted something that runs properly on Linux, OS X and Windows (which the original QEMU 0.8.2 doesn't) as well as a number of features. We're working on integrating as much of the upstream QEMU changes as possible (e.g. the TCG code generator) though, and hope we'll be able to send back some improvements to the project's maintainer in the near future.
