Currently we have modified at overlay level to send video buffers to external display device (tv or ..). We were able to play video via external display. (via gallery app or "am start -n com.android.gallery/com.android.camera.MovieView" command) but the problem is, video player gains the surface and screen control, rest of the UI/apps are blocked, so we couldnt access menu or any other screens. How to overcome this (allow user to access system while video is being played on external device), atleast a prototype? - i thought a a native app which bypasses ActivityManager (like current stagefright in eclair 2.1) will allow user to use UI as usual, while video is being played i background.
