Hi, I'm trying to make sense out of the following excerpt from http://source.android.com/devices/tech/security/enhancements44.html > Android 4.4 also includes fixes for Android-specific vulnerabilities. > Information about these vulnerabilities has been provided to Open Handset > Alliance members and fixes are available in Android Open Source Project. To > improve security, some devices with earlier versions of Android may also > include these fixes. The same language is used for 4.3 and 4.2.
FWIW, I've always seen the OHA as a marketing thing -- which doesn't preclude me from being wrong about that. I've googled the site for any reference to security and I haven't found anything substantive. If nothing else, the last news item on their site is dated July 2011. So I'm wondering if someone on this list could provide some more details here. What roles does the OHA play today in the Android ecosystem (if any)? And does that include early access to security vulnerability disclosures? Any info or pointers on this would be greatly appreciated.
