Hi Communiy,
I have some questions in the area of Action Semantics in UML:
They are already a lot of Action Languages like ASL,
BridgePoint Object Action Language, SMALL, TALL, OCL-based,
etc. Remember that Action Semantics in UML is only metamodel,
so no notation and no concrete syntax...
1. Is there any plan of AndroMDA to support one of the Action
Language (and of course the translation into Java, just like
the other translation libraries for OCL, Hibernate, etc...)?
How complex is that to build a translation library for
an action language?
2. How can I insert an action into a method in such UML tool
like Poseidon? Do I only have to insert it into "Tagged Values"?
Is there any other way?
3. What does the community think? Is it better for implementing
actions to use some kind of Action Languages like above
(independent, better suited, etc.)? Or maybe we should just use
Java (or a small subset of Java, easy to use, you already know
it)? IBM Rational Rapid Developer uses Java directly in the model
as an Action Language implementation (the method implementation
in a class is saved within the class model as metadata).
Thanks a lot!
