Importing a Poseidon XMI should work, I recently tried it. It will not be able 
to recover you diagrams since in UML 1.4 they aren't standard XMI elements, but 
use proprietary extensions instead.



What I always do is recreate empty diagrams and drag&drop the proper elements 
on there and have it laid out automatically, at last for class diagrams. For 
activity diagrams I would just model everything again.



If you're having problems with MagicDraw it's probably related to the fact it 
chokes on Poseidon specific output. In practice XMI does not seem to be as 
portable as expected, I hope this improves in the future.
