There are conflicting versions of the events surrounding the armed clashes
between Thai and Cambodian troops on 3rd April. Cambodia claimed four Thai
soldiers were killed and 10 captured, while Thailand put the death toll of
its soldiers at two. The Thai side claimed that two Cambodian soldiers were
killed and that the Cambodian side had started the attacks first. The
Cambodian government had sought to clarify the news by putting its side of
the events through a press release which it claimed that the Thai side
started firing first and that the Cambodian side had suffered no
