This was the first symptom I had after my last update, too.  Check to 
see if your kernel can still see its modules, by lsmod.  If nothing is 
listed, you have the same problem.  Your update updated the kernel 
configuration to 2.6.21, but did not update the kernel itself.  You need 
to re-flash your new kernel.  Instructions are on the WIKI.
