I sent this question to the Opie mailing list originally, but because
this group is now testing Opie on Angstrom then I wonder if someone else
might have run into a similar problem with displaying X programmes. In
this case minimo, but it affects all. I realise that X is not there but
there is meant to be a layer that provides some interface. I think its
called xqt?

Mail below.
Cheers, S.
PS. I cannot find an email client in the repository like opiemail or
sylnfeed (sp?). Is it somewhere else or been renamed? I cannot find it
on my build. These are the only programmes that I could find prefixed
with Opie
opie-console opie-reorgfiles opiealarm

Sorry, I left the error messages out:
(process:3100): Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library
(minimo:3100): Gtk--WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
Using the fallback 'C' locale
(minimo:3100): Gtk-WARNING: cannot open display:

Then I set my DISPLAY incase this was the problem:
export DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0.0
(process:3100): Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library
(minimo:3100): Gtk--WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
Using the fallback 'C' locale
 _X11TransSocketINETConnect() can't get address for 127.0.0.1:6000:
Temporary failure in name resolution
(minimo:3100): Gtk-WARNING: cannot open display:

I am running as root on the device. It automatically logs in as root.
There are no other normal user accounts configured.
I do not know if this has any bearing on the problem, but last night I
also did an ipkg install gcc, & I think this installed a library.
Although, I could not find it.

S.
