My workaround for the hx4700's wireless device was to make an init
script to "kickstart" the network by bringing it all the way down,
re-loading the kernel modules, and then restarting it:
/etc/init.d/kick_network:
#!/bin/sh
case "${1:-''}" in
~ 'start')
~ ifdown wlan0
~ modprobe hx4700_acx
~ modprobe acx
~ /etc/init.d/networking restart
~ ifup wlan0
~ ;;
~ 'stop')
~ ifdown wlan0
~ /etc/init.d/networking stop
~ ;;
~ *)
~ echo "Usage: $0 start|stop"
~ exit 1
~ ;;
esac
Add it, and then run:
update-rc.d kick_network defaults 41
This makes it start after networking at boot time. Offhand, I'm not
certain whether or not it runs when the device resumes from a sleep, but
if the above doesn't do the trick, you could add a script in
/etc/apm/resume.d to call "/etc/init.d/kick_network restart" if you
needed to.
