In other words: If the performance would be lying somewhere between what
Opie offers today via fbdev and current X11 applications with their
X/GTK/Gnome/... base then I would consider it as acceptable.

AFAIR one of the biggest problems with Opie under X11 was the lack of a
decent COM layer which QT/E provided via qcop but which is not available
with Qt4. Though I might be wrong here...
