I suggest you to checkout the org.openembedded.dev branch.
I did that and "bitbake opie-image" worked. There was only one error:
The tar file for ntp is corruped:
NOTE: Task failed: Checksum of
'http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~ntp/ntp_spool/ntp4/ntp-4.2/ntp-4.2.2p3.tar.gz'
failed
ERROR: TaskFailed event exception, aborting
I used the tar file from this source instead

and everything compiled:

I thought I could use one of the *rootfs.tar* files to install Opie on a
SD card but it seems there's not everything necessary for Opie in these

How can I create a rootfs tar file that I can use to install OPIE on a
SD card for the CL760?
Should I use
bitbake opie-kdepim-image
instead?
