Hi

Ok I'll give some more information about my setup, since I realized
that my original post might be confusing.

I have an H3955 iPAQ. If I use the stable 2007.12 liveramdisk, it just
works. If I try the loopback setup from that same release using
Angstrom-boot-2.6.21-hh20-r6-h3900.exe and
Angstrom-x11-image-glibc-ipk-2007.12-h3900.rootfs.img.bz2, it also
just works.

What I tried to do and failed was to boot an unstable image made with
Narcissus, using Angstrom-boot-2.6.21-hh20-r6-h3900.exe first. It
froze on pslash. I then used HaReT 0.5.2 to boot the same image's
rootfs (in initrd form), but passing the kernel command
"pslash=false". All of this is done using an SD card with a single FAT
partition, since I understand that this is a loopback config that
somehow loads the ext2 filesystem in RAM... This is the attempt that
failed with a *uinput* module failure, since that is the last message
that appeared on the console.

I have a CF sleeve and a 512MB CF card that I used sometime ago to
install Familiar 0.8.4. I no longer have that distro installed; my ROM
contains a WinCE 2003 OS and the Cambridge bootloader. I am not
flashing the Angstrom image, as I said before I'm trying loopback
configs only.

I attempted to boot the live loopback image from the CF card, but
apparently the kernel used to boot Angstrom this way does not have
support for the sleeve. Also, booting from the SD card using a liveram
image, Angstrom does not recognize the CF sleeve.

That is an interesting idea. Maybe the best way would be to preserve
the working bits from 2007.12 and to update just the userland part; I
doubt sound and battery drivers would be developed for the 2.6.x h3900
kernel, so there's not much gained from updating it.

I'll keep researching alternatives. Hope this new info provides
additional insight.
