Hello All,

Here are my proposed changes to the Collie install page.
See attachment.
Angstrom Install Instructions for the SL-5500 series Zaurus PDA's, also called
Collie.

Special thanks to Thomas Kunze for his work on Collie!

'''What you will need:'''

 * SL-5500 series PDA
 * Your AC adapter
 * CF card formatted with fat16(default usually when bought at store)
 * rootfs images
 * kexecboot image
 * SD/CF card formatted with ext2 filesystem.

=== Getting the Images ===

 Stable Images - Not yet released!

 Unstable testing images -

 * Reccomended Way using Kexecboot and Online Builder(Narcissus)
   A. Download rootfs images from Online builder at:
      http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/narcissus/
   B. Download  zImage-kexecboot-2.6.xxx-collie.bin from:
      http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/demo/kexecboot/

 * Deprecated option:
   A.Download Install Kit
http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/images/collie/
   B.See old Collie install page at http://linuxtogo.org/gowiki/CollieInstall

=== File Names ===
 * zImage        --> Rename kexecboot.image.bin to zImage
 * initrd.bin --> You can optionally flash an image to nand but some current
images may not fit.
 * rootfs.tar.gz --> Attain from narcissus and unpack it to SD card or CF card
(formatted with ext2
   filesystem).

=== Preparing the Update ===
Now, connect your (fat16 formatted) CF card to your computer using a card
reader and drag zImage and optionally initrd.bin to the root of the CF card.
Unmount and eject the card, making sure the changes are written.

=== Flashing Collie ===
 1. Plug in your Zaurus using the AC adapter, the update will not proceed
without external power.
 1. Insert the CF card with the image in the root, as described above.
 1. Turn the zaurus over and flip the battery case switch to “Replace battery”.
Remove the battery cover, and find the small reset microswitch below the
battery (you don't need to remove the battery itself).
 1. With your Shiva three arms, use your stylus to press reset button, Press C,
and press D button on keyboard! Yes, it's sport!
 1. As soon as you release these three buttons, the two LEDs, will light for
several minutes. If the LEDs light for only a few seconds, then something went
wrong! Usually, you forgot to rename "zImage.bin" into "zImage". (Yes, it's a
common mistake.)
 1. When LEDs turn off, press reset button, and then replace the battery cover
and flip the battery case switch to "Normal", the Zaurus will already be
booting (it doesn't check the battery case switch at this point.)

When the machine boots up you will see the kexecboot bootloader appear which
should say:

Make your choice by selecting an item with the cursor keys.
OK/Enter: Boot selected device
R: Reboot S: Rescan devices

example pictures of kexecboot:
http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/recent-kexecboot-ipaq-hx4700

Choose your bootable device SD/CF/Nand press enter or OK and Voila! Your OS
should boot up. Unfortunately for now Angstrom Collie images as of this
writing do not boot properly. But if we get enough testers and maybe some more
developers involved maybe we can get collie back in the game.

Also! Now that you have kexecboot installed you can boot other images/OSes(Like
Openzaurus) without having to flash the collie(unless you want it in nand).
Simply unpack an image to SD and hit your reset button and kexecboot screen
will come up. Try another image!
For older images like Openzaurus you may need to copy the kernel(normally
residing in flash) to the
/boot directory of the SD/CF card or the "Nand image" . This is somewhat
experimental as Openzaurus predates kexecboot.
